Get to Know Steve Thomakos

Steve Thomakos has real experience.
I have been problem solving for 32 years with service to over 4,500 clients. As lawyers, we use our legal experience, our knowledge of the law, and our skills to litigate to help people resolve legal problems. I will take these principles and apply them to the Common Pleas Court.

Steve Thomakos understands the importance of families and community.
My wife, Elizabeth, and I raised our four children in Tuscarawas County.

It has been especially gratifying to coach the Mock Trial teams at Tuscarawas Central Catholic for the past 13 years, taking multiple teams to Regional and one team to State competitions.

In past years, I coached Little League, volunteered for a variety of school events and supported many local causes. I've been a faithful supporter of the Pillars' Club, a charitable organization inspired by John and Ann Page to provide scholarships to deserving students and assistance to families in need.

Steve Thomakos understands the issues that bring people into the court system.
In a courtroom, the law matters. Evidence matters. But most of all, people matter. The ability to listen to people and understand their concerns is the foundation of my professional life.

In my 32 years of practicing law and problem solving, I have represented the interests of over 4,500 people. If elected as the next Common Pleas Court Judge, I have an opportunity to make a difference in many more lives.

Steve Thomakos understands the justice system.
I have had the privilege of representing clients in state and federal justice systems. I have been active in the administrative law systems for many years. I presented cases to trial courts and argued twice before the Ohio Supreme Court. I have also served as president of the Tuscarawas County Bar Association and taught Business Law at Kent State University, Tuscarawas.

Steve Thomakos understands the social issues affecting our community.
The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services appointed me to serve two terms (6 years) with the local ADAMHS Board. This service exposed me to the dire need we have for mental health and addiction services in Tuscarawas County. Our Board worked as a unit to distribute funds and assist in this need.

If elected Common Pleas Court Judge, I will create a second specialized docket in my court room for Drug Court or Mental Health Court.
